As if by magic, I conjured this little chap up. I’ve drawn him with line – by that I mean he has an outline which not all of my drawings have. It’s actually much faster for me to draw using an outline and fill than it is without line. If you don’t use line, you have to really make sure your colours contrast well against each other and you need to use plenty of shading. You can be quite flat with your colour when you use a bit of line.
I’m just waiting to see if I’ve got a book illustration job at the moment. So I did a very fast doodle this morning while I’m waiting to hear back, it’s a big nod to Mary Blair (my hero… heroine even). Thought I’d post it as I don’t get to do many drawings just for fun (the Giraffe and Elephant were just for fun, practicing my ‘retro’ animals)! - back to getting onto the real, paid work now.
